Bronze lion in motion with a brown patina, signed barye.

Elegant animal sculpture in dark brown patinated bronze, representing a majestic lion in motion, based on a composition by Antoine-Louis Barye (1795-1875), a famous 19th-century French animal sculptor. The power of the animal is expressed through the modelling of its musculature, the detailed treatment of its mane, and the natural movement of its silhouette. The lion rests on a rectangular stepped terrace, highlighting the balance of the composition. The sculpture bears the signature BARYE. Its dark patina, nuanced by the traces of time, gives it a beautiful decorative presence. A character piece, ideal on a console, a bookshelf, or in a cabinet of curiosities.
