Oblong bowl. The side handles are delicately decorated with bunches of grapes and vine leaves. It is entirely openwork. It rests on ten small square feet. A rare model signed Émile Tessier (1887-1971) under the base. Émile Tessier, by virtue of his personality and talent, was the most emblematic potter of Malicorne. From 1928 to 1971, his extensive knowledge of ceramics and a profoundly modernist technique allowed him to build one of the largest potteries in Western France. Emile Tessier, himself trained at Pouplard, founded his own workshops in 1924. He developed an openwork technique that would make his productions famous. His pottery workshop, located between Angers and Le Mans, later became the FAM pottery factory (Faïencerie d'Art de Malicorne). Lovely piece in very good condition except for a few very minor chips on one of the grape clusters and on the rim. Weight: 1 kg. Ref. LGM.
