Songye tribal mask

Imposing wooden mask, with a striated headdress in three parts featuring a central crest and two lateral fins. The eyes are pierced, the nose is long, very architectural with a pronounced ridge in the structure of the face. It is worth noting that the scarifications are located only on the forehead. This is likely a ritual mask from Central Africa of the Songye type, with traces of attachments at the back. The mask is impressive: 45 cm in height, 20 cm in width, and 18 cm in depth, with a beautiful brown patina. Probable dating is early 20th century. Note the recent addition of a hook at the back for wall display.
