“Casino” side table by Engström and Myrstrand for Tingströms, 1960s

Oak construction with geometric lines, a square top, straight legs and slender connecting stretchers. Design by Sven Engström and Gunnar Myrstrand for Tingströms, “Casino” model, 1960s. The “Casino” side table, designed by Sven Engström and Gunnar Myrstrand for Tingströms, reflects a period in Swedish design when functionalist rigor was combined with a particular attention to detail. Its apparently simple geometry is animated by the recess beneath the top, which emphasizes the legs, and by the slender stretchers running through the structure. Crafted in oak, it belongs to the “Casino” series, developed by the two designers as a coordinated family of furniture with measured and distinctive lines. Good condition. It may show signs of age.
