Framed watercolor by Henri Lindegaard 1975 - Forest and mountain landscape

Beautiful watercolor depicting a forest and mountain landscape by henri lindegaard hand signed 1975 born in 1925 in madrid to a spanish protestant family, he continued his studies in chambon-sur-lignon (haute-loire), at the école nouvelle cévenole (which has since become the collège cévenol). He was a boarder at the maison des roches, a student residence. According to the testimony of jean-philippe le forestier(2): "passionate about painting and poetry, he participated fiercely in the discussions regularly opened on these subjects by his companions at the maison des roches." still according to le forestier, the region was then experiencing a great cultural boom with the arrival of many intellectuals fleeing the nazi occupation. In 1943 lindegaard escaped a raid by the german police at the maison des roches (being ill that day), but he did not forget the trauma of seeing his comrades and the director daniel trocmé (1912 - 1944) loaded into a truck (a good number, including trocmé, died in concentration camps). Lindegaard took evening classes at the école des beaux-arts. His artistic training took a decisive turn with his meeting in 1952 with the painter and cubist theorist albert gleizes (1881 - 1953), with whom he had discussions on art and religion (towards the end of his life, gleizes had converted to catholicism and turned to religious art). Lindegaard gave gleizes a book by barth, parole de dieu et parole humaine (1933), which gleizes had subsequently marked and annotated (according to a correspondence between lindegaard and peter brooke in 1992). He retired in 1990 to mas soubeyran, near mialet (gard), where he had been leading watercolour workshops since the late 1960s in an old farmhouse acquired in 1966, mas lacroix. He died suddenly in 1996 during one of these "meetings of painters" at the lazaret in sète, surrounded by the participants, leaving an unfinished watercolour.
