Here is a beautiful and large ceramic piece that can serve multiple purposes: a vinegar dispenser for making your homemade vinegar, a distributor for your homemade cocktails, or even a water or juice fountain for an evening in the garden. It features a lid and a wooden tap called a canette, surrounded by a cork stopper. It is made of Puisaye stoneware with a lovely rounded shape and a magnificent glaze blending soft and comforting tones: beige, caramel, and chocolate, materials and colours typical of the 1970s. A very fine piece of craftsmanship by the potter Jean-Pierre Prud’homme. It is signed underneath, and the distinctive glazing of this ceramist is easily recognisable. Jean-Pierre Prud’homme founded a handmade pottery workshop with his wife in 1971 in Monnaie, working with clay from Nièvre (Puisaye stoneware). This workshop still exists today, run by his son Benoît, who took over in the 1990s-2000s and also creates very beautiful ceramics, albeit quite different. This jar is in perfect condition, with no cracks or chips on the stoneware, just a small imperfection on the cork stopper surrounding the canette, which is still usable for now but will likely need to be replaced if used regularly. This jar measures 24 cm in height (26 cm with the lid) and approximately 19 cm in maximum diameter, 26 cm in width including the handles.
