Gustav Beran (1912-2006) Pair of silver-plated candlesticks by Van Kempen & Begeer, Netherlands, 1960s. A beautiful tall and elegant pair of candlesticks in silvered sheet metal signed by Gustav Beran. Made by Van Kempen & Begeer / Keltum in the Netherlands, a renowned manufacturer of high-quality silver and silver-plated items. The set dates from the 1960s. They possess a timeless quality and very elegant lines, ranging from a round base to a fine tip. Nice patina on the silver, just enough to be interesting. Felted bottom to protect your furniture. Signed on the edge at the base. Gustav Beran was a designer and artist from Vienna, Austria, trained by the famous Josef Hoffmann, founder of the Wiener Werkstätte. In 1937, Beran received a "Diploma of Honour" at the International Exhibition of Arts and Techniques in Modern Life in Paris and designed a prestigious pen for the wedding of Queen Juliana of the Netherlands.
