Amphora-shaped vase with two handles, emblematic of European ceramic production from the mid-20th century (circa 1940-1950). This piece perfectly embodies the late Art Deco aesthetic with its balanced silhouette and intricate glazing work. This vase stands out for its highly lustrous mottled (or flamed) glaze. Vertical drips of deep emerald green intertwine with earthy brown and amber tones, revealing the warmth of the red terracotta (the body) in places. Each piece is unique due to the fusion of oxides during firing. The base: Three marks of the potter's tools can be distinguished (indicators of careful artisanal firing). A complex signature is hand-engraved beneath the glaze. The artist's monogram "GDEA" (or a combination of stylised letters) can be read, along with shape numbers characteristic of Belgian workshops such as the famous Thulin factory. In excellent vintage condition. The glaze retains all its brilliance. Note some signs of age that confirm its authenticity: slight chips are visible on the neck and handles, as well as a natural fluctuation in the varnish (see detail photos). With its rustic-chic appearance and organic colours, this vase will fit well in both a modern interior and on a Scandinavian sideboard. A character piece for any collector of Belgian or French ceramics.
