"tapestry wall hanging country gallant scene. 20th century" Modern tapestry representing a pastoral scene with three characters in the taste of the 18th century. Wool tapestry with printed decoration, lined with burlap with wall fixings on the back (in wrought iron) along the entire length. Absence of bolduc. Circa 1950. Jules pansu. Gobelins.paris. Tapestry after f. Boucher (1703-1770). Boucher was superintendent of the gobelins factory from 1755. His cartoons met with immense success. A reflection of a friendly and refined era, his work is entirely focused on love, libertinism and celebrations. Nature is for him a pretext for graceful compositions where shepherds and shepherdesses are mainly concerned with love, flowers and music. From f. Boucher (1703-1770). Dimensions: 170x166 cm. Condition: good general condition, some slight snags in the beige sky. Wear and dirt on the back.
