Antique sideboard / kitchen island / washbasin cabinet, late 19th century
An old workbench dating from the late 19th century, originating from France and made of oak, beech, and pine. The top is made of solid beech, 6 cm thick, supported by four sturdy oak legs. Beneath the top is an open storage space in pine, divided into several compartments of varying widths. A removable oak shelf rests on the lower supports and can be used or removed as needed. Additional wooden supports extend from both ends of the workbench. The wood has a natural patina with visible grains, old marks, scratches, and color variations due to years of use. The thick top retains its worn appearance. Initially used as a workbench, this piece can also serve as a kitchen island, washstand, console, or display counter. The open compartments provide practical storage, while the removable lower shelf allows for different configurations. Good antique condition with signs of age and use, including scratches, marks, and variations in the wood. As with many antique wooden furniture pieces, traces of past woodworm activity may be present. The workbench has been inspected and treated preventively against woodworms.
