The 'Ring Around' fruit bowl was made of pressed glass at HSG Ząbkowice in Poland around the 1960s. Characteristic of the mid-century modern style, the design attracts attention with its cool, transparent light blue colour and clear form. The delicately ribbed, wide rim and symmetrically arranged ring and petal motifs emphasise the geometric harmony of the shape. The faceted, hexagonal base made of the same light blue glass provides stability and visually enhances the play of light. Slightly visible parting lines and repeated ornamentation confirm the pressed glass technique, popular in Polish utility design of the past century. Condition is very good: no damage, chips or signs of repair; the surface has retained its mirror shine and original finish. The glass of this bowl tells the story of an era of optimism and faith in modernity – a time when everyday objects were meant to be both decorative and functional. The bright, penetrating blue refers to the era's fascination with colour and light, and the ring motifs seem to record the rhythm of the dynamic, new plastic arts of the 1960s. This bowl echoes Polish modernism: a note of geometry with a touch of softness, light reflecting in the glass, evoking the atmosphere of salons from decades past and gatherings at the table. This bowl can be used as a central element of a composition on a dining table or low coffee table – both in arrangements with a pure, mid-century modern line and in more eclectic interiors, where pairing with dark wood will highlight the clarity of the glass. It can be combined with other accessories from the era: simple-form vases, geometric candlesticks, as well as contrasting ceramics or minimalist metalwork. Its cool shade pairs well with textiles in subdued colours or delicate green plants, emphasising the noble heritage of Polish utility glass.
