Here is a set of eight very beautiful flat plates (3 sets available, so 24 plates in total) in Puisaye stoneware with a wonderful, shimmering glaze, blending soft and comforting tones: beige, caramel, chocolate... A material and colors typical of the 1970s. A very fine piece by the potter Jean-Pierre Prud'homme. They are not signed because they are part of a much larger set (soup plates, dessert plates, cups, platters, salad bowl, tureen, etc.) that I recently acquired and will be offering here little by little (keep an eye on my shop if you are looking for other pieces, and some are already for sale here). Jean-Pierre Prud'homme did not sign all his pieces when they were part of a set: here the larger pieces are signed, along with a few smaller ones. Jean-Pierre Prud'homme and his wife founded a pottery workshop in 1971 in Monnaie, working with clay from the Nièvre region (Puisaye stoneware). This workshop still exists today, run by his son Benoît, who took over in the 1990s and 2000s and also creates very beautiful ceramics. The glazing on these plates is even more accomplished, with more color nuances, than on other pieces by this ceramist, so I think these plates date from the late 1970s. They are all in perfect condition, no cracks, chips, not even a nick. According to the previous owners, these plates have never left the china cabinet! Only one plate has an original flaw: its shape is not perfectly round; it has a straight line about 4 cm long (this plate will be part of the last set of 8 plates). These plates measure 23 cm in diameter with a rim height of 2.5 cm.
