Golden wooden trumeau mirror, Louis XVI style – early 20th century

Carved wooden trumeau, moulded and finely gilded by the Auffret workshop, showcasing a traditional craftsmanship enhanced by careful restoration. In the upper part, an oil on canvas depicts an autumn landscape bathed in diffuse light, where trees brush against a sky filled with clouds. The painterly touch, free and vibrant, falls within a late Impressionist vein, capturing the atmosphere more than the detail. In the lower part, the original mirror, slightly spotted, retains its authenticity and discreetly reflects the surroundings, adding a functional dimension to the whole.
