Mountain furniture in pine and larch, Folk art, Savoie, 19th century

Mountain bonnetière from Savoy made of solid pine and larch, a popular work from the 19th century. The front opens with a door featuring moulded panels equipped with wrought iron fittings. The interior is fitted with several shelves providing ample storage space. The lower part includes a drawer added later. The simple and robust structure, made from thick boards, reveals wood with pronounced grain, dotted with knots and possessing a warm patina acquired over time. A characterful piece, typical of Alpine furniture. Dimensions: H 138 × W 86 × D 48 cm.
