Marquetry salon side table, Italy, 19th century, around 1850.

It is a showcase of wood essences that this remarkably marquetry-topped low Italian side table from the mid-19th century offers! Cherry, walnut, walnut burl, elm, oak, black pear, sycamore maple, mahogany, lemon tree, amaranth, rosewood... A forest on a table!!... And what time has passed!... What craftsmanship, and what talent!... The lower part of the base seems to have been restored, according to the rules of cabinetmaking; it is stable and solid! The leg is detachable: a large wooden screw connects it to the top. In overall good condition, with minor signs of use consistent with its age; ideal height for a coffee table or end of sofa. Length = 90 cm, width = 59 cm, height = 63 cm.
