Orsay coffee table – Gae Aulenti – 1970s

This is the rare model in lacquered cast iron and smoked black glass, to be distinguished from the wooden version. Unlike the wooden edition, which was branded with a Knoll sticker, the glass model is neither engraved nor marked with the brand, which is consistent with the original production. The structure features rounded quadrangular metal tubing and sculptural lines in moulded smoked glass, typical of Gae Aulenti's work. It is a table that is both architectural and elegant, having become a classic of modernist design. The table is in very good vintage condition, with slight signs of wear consistent with its age (light scratches on the moulded glass, minor marks on the lacquered metal base), which do not detract from its aesthetics or sturdiness. Perfect as a statement piece in a contemporary interior or design collection.
