Originally introduced to Japan during the Heian period (794–1185), Kyō Karakami has long adorned imperial residences, temples, tea houses, and the finest Japanese interiors. Each sheet is meticulously hand woodblock printed using hand-carved woodblocks, high-end washi paper (torinoko), and traditional pigments. The process requires exceptional craftsmanship, with every impression applied by hand, resulting in subtle variations that make each piece truly one of a kind. The design, Chidori & Waves, depicts plovers gliding above stylised waves.
