Large ancient jar in glazed terracotta – H. 56 cm

Beautiful antique terracotta jar, traditionally handcrafted. The jar is turned, with visible turning marks, and features two handles shaped and attached by hand. The interior and neck are glazed in a lovely brown-orange hue. Originally, this type of large jar was a utilitarian container intended for the preservation of goods, particularly olives, oil, or other food products. It has a very beautiful old patina on the clay, with signs of use and age. Wear and missing glaze, particularly on the rim, are visible in the photos. These marks contribute to the charm and character of the piece. The bottom has been drilled later to transform the jar into a plant pot, a use to which it is still perfectly suited. Very decorative indoors as well as outdoors, in a garden, courtyard, or on a terrace. Dimensions: Height: approx. 56 cm. Maximum width: approx. 50 cm. Please feel free to contact me for more details.
