Arne Vodder, the Danish teak desk

Arne Vodder (1926-2009) is one of the great cabinetmakers of Danish post-war design. Trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and a pupil of Finn Juhl, he signed for five decades for the publishers Sibast Møbler and Vamo Sønderborg a furniture in teak and rosewood where Juhl-inspired elegance translates into more accessible serial pieces. His desks with coloured drawers, sliding-door sideboards and leather armchairs remain references of the Danish school of the 1950s and 60s.

The Arne Vodder desk with coloured drawers, Sibast sideboard and patinated leather armchairs remain the designer's most recognisable pieces. Scandinavian vintage furniture to find for those wanting a refined Danish signature, at still reasonable prices.
