Dieter Rams, German master of Less but better
Dieter Rams (born 1932) is probably the most influential industrial designer of the 20th century. Chief designer at Braun for forty years (1955-1995), he signed there more than 500 products that defined an aesthetic: T3 radio, SK4 Snow White's Coffin turntable, ET 22 calculator. In parallel, he designed for Vitsoe the 606 shelving system (1960), still edited today. His ten principles of good design ('Less but better') inspired a whole generation, from Jonathan Ive at Apple to Naoto Fukasawa.
The 606 Vitsoe shelving and Dieter Rams-signed Braun appliances remain the designer's most iconic pieces. German vintage design to find for those wanting a minimalist signature now an absolute reference of global industrial design.
