Rodney Kinsman, British designer of OMK

Rodney Kinsman (born 1943) is one of the British designers most representative of English High Tech of the Seventies. A graduate of the Central School of Art and Design in London, he founded OMK Design in 1966, a manufactory specialising in chromed tubular steel and perforated plastic furniture. His Omkstak chair (1971), stackable, in perforated steel sheet and chromed tubes, became a classic of British contract furniture, equipping airports, stations and public spaces. With his Tokyo chair and Trax bench, he signed a body of work marked by the industrial aesthetic of the time.

The Omkstak chair and Tokyo chair from OMK remain Rodney Kinsman's signature pieces. A British vintage chair to find for those wanting a classic of English industrial design, in the High Tech vein of the Seventies.
