Cini Boeri, Milanese architect of the Strips sofa

Cini Boeri (1924-2020) is one of the great figures of contemporary Italian design and one of the first women architects of her generation to assert herself in a male environment. A graduate of the Politecnico di Milano, an early collaborator of Marco Zanuso, she founded her studio in 1963 and signed for Arflex, Knoll, Fiam Italia and Gavina a body of work of great inventiveness. Her Strips sofa (1968) for Arflex, modular and removable cover, her Botolo armchair, Lunario table for Knoll and Ghost chair in curved glass for Fiam remain her most iconic pieces.
