Original painting depicting the portrait of a gentleman holding in his left hand a book probably to indicate that it was someone scholar or scholar and carrying a golden ear ball on the left. Apart from sailors and buccaneers, the Compagnons du Devoir also wore earrings at that time. Table signed at the bottom left but not very readable in full. Canvas of fine origin with a number of cracks and worn by time. Canvas having received a dusting and cleaning from a catering professional. Painting ready to be hung on the wall.
