Very nice early 19th grade portrait of a young man dressed and styled in fashion between 1795 and 1805, depending on whether it was an English painting - around 1795, or French - slightly later - around 1800/1805. Sublime suit: high-necked shirt still of silver-buttoned military influence and the crotched jacket with a bona fide collar in a merise-coloured sheet. And then the hair cut with aiglon, the frank and shiny look, the curved lashes, the mine at the same time serious, juvenile and mischievous. We know nothing of this painting but we can imagine by looking carefully at this beautiful face that it could be the son of an English or French family, more probably still Spanish, settled in South America or the Caribbean in the 18th. Surprisingly modern portrait, really of today. Note a small slit without loss of material right of hair. 40, 5cm X 49, 5cm. Very elegant presence.
