Period: ca. 19th century. This small decorative piece of furniture deserves to be placed high to give it the attention it deserves. The upper deck is decorated with a carved relief of two peacocks and an acanthus leaf. The front side edges have a lion's head carved above a twisted mahogany column sconce. There are two removable shelves. This renaissance style furniture (louis xiii) has a very aged look but I doubt it is an authentic 17th century item. In my opinion, it is a marriage of several pieces of wood and older sculptures (possibly from the 17th century). The bottom has a very old dovetail assembly and the upper wooden board clearly had a long previous life. It is not possible to know when this article was 'assembled', but I do not have the impression that it is a recent marriage. When lifting it, please do not hold it by the apron (birds), as it is an applied piece of wood. Also pay attention to the dimensions so as not to be surprised by its small size. Condition: state of an antiquity that has lived: surface cracks, older nail holes (some filled), scars and repairs here and there (see photo). See description for an explanation. Dimensions: 76.5 cm high, 46.5 cm wide, 23 cm deep, 8 kg.
