Lavoët cubic hat trunk

Magnificent hat trunk of the lavoët brand of the early twentieth century (circa 1910-20), covered with a brown coated canvas and surrounded by studded leather borders. This stunning cubic case is equipped with an original leather handle. The stamp on the side, testifies to its origin. It is a luxury trunk, out of the workshops lavoët, bd hausmann, probably in the 1st years of the last century, at a time when the world was discovering the cultural and artistic creation of the new century, so a new art... A whole life that was not yet crazy but that is still worth to us, even today, the opportunity of such meetings. Extremely rare, especially in such a beautiful state of preservation, this cubic trunk, was intended to transport, but also protect the hats of the ladies. Its fittings, clasps and even its corners, are reinforced in brass. All the lines attest at first glance to an object of high class. Opening it confirms the first impression. The colors, still bright, of a beautifully marbled paper, offer a leap in the history of more than a century, to admire a work of exceptional quality. We think we were a hundred years ago, discovering a trunk that we wanted to acquire, as the interior is like new. No nostalgia (although...), but rather an admiration for a craft that one is tempted to say is art: an art that transcends time, despite the slightly obsolete purpose of the object that has traveled and known many vicissitudes. This trunk, this chest, is a plus in a vintage decoration and also in a storage perspective that its basket and volume make precious.
