Aldo van den Nieuwelaar was a Dutch designer and architect. He studied at the Academy for Visual Arts in Breda and founded his own studio in 1968. His designs each show simplicity and clarity of form. He always looked to the essence of the design, he for instance takes the source of light as his starting point and for this he strongly prefers using diffuse fluorescent light as it resembles daylight. Between 1972 and 1974 only 17 TC-3 lamps where made. Wherefrom 13 lamps in 1972, only one in 1973 and 3 in 1974 . As this one is numbered with nr. 14 this lamps been made in 1973. It was a lucky shot to find 1 of the 17 TC-3 lamps after 47 years and probably will not find another 1 ever again.
