Beautiful example of the iconic cast iron factory wall clock made in England by Gents of Leicester. c.1930 Salvaged from a factory in the north of England, this clock has a solid cast iron construction and is much more heavy duty than usual for this size and steel bezel with glass lens. Dial features raised numerals. In as found condition, just cleaned and waxed to preserve. Original hands now fitted to a high torque Quartz movement for modern convenience. Gents’ of Leicester, was established in Leicester, England, in 1872 by John Thomas Gent. For over a century, the company was a well known manufacturer of electrical equipment, in particular its electric clocks, which were used in public buildings and railway stations all over the world.
