2 bowls 'Krenit' by Herbert Krenchel for Torben Orskov enamelled steel. Diameter: 4.7 (small) and 7.9 (large), height: 2.0 (small) and 3.2 inches (large). Graduate of the Technical University of the Denmark, Herbert Krenchel (1922) specialises in material research. In addition to her work as a civil engineer, Krenchel - like many Danes - had a keen interest in the design. In collaboration with his close friend Torben Orskov, a well known producer of design products, Krenchel decided to develop a series of bowls in enamelled steel which would seem good enough for use in the kitchen and the dining room. Thanks to its knowledge and technical skills, Krenchel has managed to develop of new manufacturing techniques to give the bowls of the fine and elegant edges and a black outer surface and smooth. Krenit bowls were introduced in 1953, and won a gold medal at the Triennale Milano of 1954
