Afghan carpet old, from Afghanistan, wool on wool, circa 1930, large, 256 cm x 319 cm, coral color by going on the violine, in very good condition, knoated in a soft wool of very beautiful quality and decorated with tribal motif in the form of Medallion "Gül" (usually a Octagon, a square or a slightly altered Rhombus) repeated with constancy on the field, and a broad border decorated with tribal motifs, which brings to these carpets a great elegance and an almost heraldic character, making, the borders are usually the same color as the field, it is part of the nomadic lifestyle of deviating from all ostentatious forms. Among the güls are repeated star-shaped ornaments of great elegance found on Afghan carpets knoted in Afghanistan and Turkestan. The soft and shiny wool is a very tight and very fine knoage (especially before the years 50), the velvet is flush and this carpet has a beautiful patina due to its age and slight discolorations in the whole which confer an inimitable style and that we call "AB rash ". Artisanal Afghan products are very good bills. In other areas, nomadic carpets are often loosely knotted and have long hairs, as opposed to Afghan or Turkmen rugs with dense, tight knots with the Persian knot, Velvet strokes and goat or wool hairs of sheep, supple and shiny. But the use of goat hair is more common for the chain and the weft. These carpets have a male aura and have always been appreciated since the 19th century for the decoration of the offices of businessmen. These majestic carpets are certainly the best in Central Asia and are the work of the Afghan tribes. The same spirit of knogging and motive is found in the neighbouring carpets of Turkmenistan belonging to the Tekke tribe, usually called Bukhara-Tekke, but the old production consists of smaller carpets, because of the distance separating them from Asia Central and foreign markets.
