Vintage massive brutalist wall plaque by Irma Yourstone for Upsala Ekeby Sweden. Thick polychrome glazed ceramic/stoneware flower in blue. Worked in relief. Metal hook on the back. 1960s. Numbered Signed signature J.Y (Irma Yourstone) + UE (Upsala Ekeby) Weight: 1 kg. Height: 28 cm. Width: 21 cm. Thickness: 3 cm. Irma Yourstone (1911 – 1988) began her career at Rorstrand Factories from 1928 to 1939. After that, she created her own studio "Yourstone ceramics" in Huddinge, Stockholm. From 1960 to 1971, Irma Yourstone collaborated with Uppsala Ekeby. Upsala Ekeby was founded in 1886 in Uppsala, in the Ekeby district of Sweden, as a stoneware factory. It was between 1920 and 1960 that Upsala Ekeby reached its peak, becoming one of the major centres of Swedish design by collaborating with numerous artists.
