Vintage Italian slipware bowl – artichoke in bloom

Vintage barbotine bowl from Italy, shaped like a flowering artichoke, with generous volumes and pronounced naturalism. This expressive piece captivates with the richness of its relief and its deep botanical palette, blending nuanced greens and delicate pink touches at the heart of the flower. The glossy glaze highlights each scale of the artichoke, each vein, giving the whole a nearly sculptural presence. Originally a utilitarian object, it becomes a true decorative accent here, emblematic of the taste for naturalistic table arts in the mid-20th century. The underside bears the inscription "Made in Italy," as well as an embedded model number (9660), characteristic of Italian workshops specialising in naturalistic decorations intended for export during the 1950s–1970s.
