Pair of villeroy & boch mettlach "burgenland" blue dishes. Stamped "v[illeroy] & b[och] m[ettlach] / saar / burgenland / unterglasur" (green stamp, 1959 to 1970). Finely detailed underglaze decoration in blue monochrome on a cream-white background: romantic landscape of a mountain stream in medallion surrounded by lush flowers. Gently scalloped border enhanced with a relief. From 1964 to 2001, villeroy & boch periodically reissued its famous burgenland model, with different landscapes. The dishes offered here date from the 1960s. In good condition: no accidents, but a few "heat stroke" spots (see detailed photos), no scratches from use, clean edges. Dimensions: length 23 cm, width 14 cm.
