Max Fabiani 'Egg' Rocking Chair Model 267 for Witmann (Attrib.) 1920s/1980s

Fantastic rocking chair, egg model 267, designed by max fabiani (1865-1962) ca.1920s. Originally the chair was edited by antonio volpe. This particular chair is a reissue and most likely manufactured by wittmann austria, it is not marked. The chair was purchased in 1990 at a high end furniture store in den haag, called p.l.warnars (invoice is still there, price was f 5610, -). This chair is often misattributed to josef hoffmann. It has a black lacquered beech frame and a cane seat and backrest. The backrest and the footrest are adjustable, both can be placed in three different positions... Classic chair, a truly great design. The chair is in very good original condition. Only minimal traces of wear. It was hardly used and more a beautiful object to watch at.
