A sugar bowl from the early 20th century, made in Sweden in the spirit of Art Nouveau, crafted from brass covered with silver. The form is based on a geometric, openwork pattern: vertical slits and stylised shield motifs enclosed in rectangular frames, connected by horizontal lines, referencing the characteristic Art Nouveau symbiosis of decoration and function. The gently curved handle with delicate cut-outs repeats the rhythm of the ornament throughout the vessel. Three short, outwardly curved legs end in stylised, flared feet, stabilising the whole. The colour is muted, matte silver with visible wear, where the brass reveals golden tones in places. The surface has a patina, minor scratches and signs of use – all elements remain original and complete, with no signs of modern restoration. Condition: good, with natural patina and wear typical for its age. The brass construction, covered with silver, tells the story of the early 20th century – a time when Art Nouveau broke the rigidity of old conventions, introducing organic motifs and delicate geometry into everyday objects. The matte surface, broken by a subtle sheen, evokes the atmosphere of Art Nouveau salons, where even the smallest item had its place and significance. The sugar bowl seems to whisper tales of old tea gatherings, where light slid over the openwork decorations, and the patina became a witness to daily rituals. Today, this vessel can be paired with classic porcelain or vintage-style glass to create a cohesive, historical table composition. It works well in arrangements inspired by Art Nouveau or eclectic collector interiors, where it is worth pairing with a linen napkin and a metal tray to emphasise the contrast of textures. It can also be combined with modern forms to highlight the timeless character of the metal and openwork ornament. The sugar bowl will fit both in a classic dining room and in a modern kitchen as a decorative accent. No additional technical information or care instructions are provided by the manufacturer.
