Pair of high-backed armchairs in turned wood – Armrests carved with animal heads Beautiful pair of large ceremonial armchairs in natural wood, featuring a highly decorative structure inspired by High Period furniture / Louis XIII style. The armchairs rest on turned feet and uprights, joined at the front by a particularly decorative twisted stretcher. The armrests, also twisted, end in remarkable carved animal heads, adding a lot of character to the whole. The high rectangular backs and wide seats are upholstered in a paisley fabric in blue-green tones, animated in the centre by a vertical band with a polychrome floral decoration in red, orange, and green. The upholstery is highlighted by a row of decorative brass nails. A very decorative pair, with generous proportions, ideal for a characterful interior, a library, or by a large fireplace. Period: 19th century in the style of the High Period. Material: turned and carved wood. Upholstery: paisley fabric with polychrome flowers. Particularities: armrests ending in carved animal heads, twisted legs and stretchers. Condition: good overall condition with signs of use and patina consistent with age. h108 x d61 x w62 cm
