It shows a stylized face and prominent eyes, geometric patterns and triangular lines decorate the mask. Using earth colored pigment and white kaolin. The baule portrait masks detail the physical features of the face, namely the eyes, eyebrows, nose, mouth and eyes. There are two forms of masks, namely animal and human or both. It is not uncommon for other human masks to feature an animal attribute or a human figure as a crest. Human masks are made and used only by men to establish contact with gu, the ruler of the world.
