Portrait on ivory of napoleon ii, son of napoleon i and as such: emperor of the french from june 22, 1815 to july 7, 1815. He later became prince of palermo and finally duke of reichstadt, a small town in bohemia (present-day czech republic) where he died at the age of 21. His story inspired edmond rostand's drama "the eagle, " whose title role was played in 1900 by a woman, sarah bernhardt. The portrait is under glass (bulging), surrounded by chiseled brass and in a wooden frame. The paint and its support are in good condition. The glass is slightly staggered at the top but can be rectified without difficulty (accessible by the lapel). The dimensions of the portrait are 5 cm (height) and 3 cm (width).
