This superb walnut chest of drawers, stamped by the cabinetmakers of the Nantes-based company P. Guinand-Leglas, is a true masterpiece of Renaissance style. Made in 1920, it stands out for its refined details and timeless elegance. The chest opens with a belt drawer, followed by three smaller recessed drawers, all equipped with authentic locks. The drawer fronts are fully moulded with scrolls and volutes, featuring wooden inlays that add a touch of sophistication to the whole piece. The uprights are adorned with turned and tapered columns with a setback, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship of the artisans of the time. The entire piece rests on a stepped base with a groove, ending at the front with imposing bun feet, providing the chest with stability and a commanding presence. The inset top made of Belgian red griotte marble adds a touch of luxury and refinement to this exceptional piece of furniture. P. Guinand-Leglas, a furniture manufacturer located at 7 Basse Grande Rue in Nantes, was founded in 1827.
