Set of two chrome tubular frame chairs designed by Karin Mobring in 1973. Karin Mobring designed the Amiral chair in 1969 for Ikea with a fully welded frame and saddle leather seat and backrest. The chair quickly became popular, but it was not possible to meet customer demand. The leather parts could not be produced quickly enough and, moreover, the armchair could not be delivered as a flat pack. AMIRAL took up a lot of space during shipping and storage, which made the price high. Therefore, in 1973, a new version was presented that could be delivered as a flat pack. This version has a jute supporting fabric in the seat and backrest instead of leather, but still has leather armrests. Condition: Good vintage condition, with rust spots on the chrome frame.
