Antique set of two portuguese white porcelain wall hanger.

This set of two hangers is very special because they are the kind of pieces you rarely find. They are fragile, delicate objects and, as far as I could find out by researching the history of the portuguese ceramics industry, they were produced on a small scale. In short, they are rarities. This model of hangers was used in military institutions in the sections, or departments frequented by high-ranking officers of the army in the mid-twentieth century in portugal. In other words, these hangers were designed and applied in buildings where only the highest military ranks had access. This conclusion is sinister but also demonstrates the importance of these pieces. Also why selling them in a vintage market is actually subverting this privilege and status quo. It is also true that it was a strategy of the government of the time to promote the ceramics industry by equipping public structures with portuguese-made pieces. So there is also a contribution, although questionable from an ethical point of view, an attempt to modernize the portuguese industrial design. Having said that, I can say that this set is in good vintage condition. The porcelain is without chips and still preserves the original shine in the glaze. They are white, completely white, with the inscription of the manufacturing factory and its origin. They are long and quite resistant. The base with an irregular shape and we can see that it has four holes to fix it to the wall. The tip of the hooks opens with a small protrusion in the perpendicular to better hold the piece hanging. As you can see they are hollow on the inside. Viewed from the back we can see some marks of time, with the porcelain stained and mortar remnants from being stuck to the wall. It turns out they were used hangers and are old. The screw holes are slightly darkened from the screw metal. But as I said the porcelain is without crackles beyond the normal streaks of time and use. This set is perfect to punctuate a home with a vintage taste.
