Hippolyte Lety, born January 24, 1878 in Vienne (Isère) where he died December 10, 1959, is a French painter. Marius Hippolyte Léty is the son of François Léty, carpenter, and Philomène Robin, tailor. Student in Lyon of Tony Zac and Alexandre François Bonnardel, then in Paris, of Léon Bonnat, Ferdinand Humbert and Luc-Olivier Merson, he exhibited at the salon from 1894 to 1914. He obtained a first medal in 1908, the Raigecourt-Goyon Prize in 1925, and the gold medal the following year. He leaves for Tourcoing where he is a professor at the art school. He retired to Vienna where he died on December 10, 1959 at the age of 81.
