Beautiful embroidered kilim with an ivory background, probably of Turkish or Balkan origin, dating approximately from the 1940s to the 1960s. It consists of 16 niches arranged in 4 columns and 4 rows, each housing a finely embroidered central diamond-shaped medallion. The secondary patterns are geometric: 8-pointed stars, small crosses, chevrons, and comb motifs rhythmically lining the borders. Soft palette of browns, antique pinks, grey-greens, and mauves on a natural cream background. Careful technique: dense chain stitch embroidery on flat weaving. Twisted cotton fringes on both ends. A small brass plate stamped "K 1276" is sewn onto the rug, likely an inventory number from a dealer or collector. DIMENSIONS: 145 × 112 cm (excluding fringes) CONDITION: — Significant wear on one side border: fraying and broken threads (see photos) — Slight signs of general wear, consistent with age. — Naturally patinated colours. Unique piece, ideal for a bohemian, ethnic interior on the floor, as a wall hanging, or on a sofa. Check out my other rugs for sale on Selency.
