This P376 pendant lamp was designed by Preben Fabricius and Jørgen Kastholm for the Danish lighting manufacturer Nordisk Solar during the 1960s. The design is a distinctive example of Danish modernism, combining a minimalist geometric form with a carefully considered system for directing and diffusing light. The lamp is crafted from aluminium and features a characteristic multi-layered construction composed of concentrically arranged shades. The individual elements conceal the light source and direct the light between the successive layers, creating soft, pleasant illumination without direct glare. A particularly interesting feature of this example is the combination of brushed aluminium with purple elements on the internal reflectors. The contrasting colours emphasize the three-dimensional structure of the lamp and give it a distinctive character typical of 1960s design. With its wide, relatively flat form and impressive 48 cm diameter, the lamp is ideal for hanging above a dining table, in a living room, or as a distinctive feature in a Mid-Century Modern interior. The lamp is preserved in very good vintage condition. It has been carefully cleaned and polished and shows only minor scratches and light signs of wear consistent with its age. The wiring has been replaced with new wiring, and the lamp has been checked by an electrician, ensuring that it is fully functional and ready for use.
