Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919-2009) was a prominent Swedish interior designer and furniture designer between the 1950s and 1970s. Jakobsson was born in Havdhem on Gotland, Sweden, in 1919. He initially worked as a carpenter before continuing his studies in Gothenburg, where he earned a degree in architecture. He was initially hired by General Motors as an industrial designer, then worked as an assistant to both the renowned Carl Malmsten (1888-1972) and Werner West (1890-1959). Hans-Agne Jakobsson's lighting design received significant international acclaim. Experimenting with a wide range of materials, including brass, iron, glass, fabric, and wood shavings, Jakobsson mastered both the direction and color of light.
