A pair of aluminium armchairs by Castagna, manufactured in Sale Marasino, Brescia. 1930s. Built from tubular aluminium, with the arm looping down into a single continuous line and a flat, gently curved back and seat. Raw, satin-finish metal rather than polished, the material stays honest rather than decorative, in keeping with the chair’s outdoor, utilitarian origins. Suited to a terrace, garden, or poolside setting, or pulled indoors for a café-style corner or sunroom. We would pair them with wood or another warm, contrasting material to set the cool metal against something tactile. Condition Report Structurally sound pair. Aluminium shows a natural satin patina with light surface marks and scattered oxidation spots consistent with age and outdoor use, no dents or repairs visible.
