Rare new, exquisite vase, with floral details on the body - babiche vines at the base, made by a member of the famous lachenal family. The history of the lachenal dynasty is well documented, starting with edmond (1855-1948) and continuing with his two sons, raoul-jean-jacques, who were also great ceramists. The whole family, as a whole, was noted as an important protagonist of french ceramics until the 1930s, but it was certainly edmond, who became known as one of the leading figures of the art nouveau movement. Known for introducing opaque glazes, brightly coloured and matte velvet, working at the same time with earthenware and sandstone, his work evolved from the influences of japanese prints of the late 19th century, then moved from ornamental images painted on surfaces, to more organic - sculptural forms, with plants, flowers, animals or even people., which would form the actual shape of the pieces themselves. In addition to his hand-signed ceramics, he also created an original punch to identify his work, which was apparently used by his sons at a later date. This splendid vase, has attributes above. It is an intense azure turquoise color, vibrant, brilliant, with an organic shape sculpted like a small tree stump made of flowers - petals, coupled with tendon vines at the base. It also bears the punch of the matrix, which is clearly visible under the base. The body remains intact - there are no cracks or shards on the surface. It is not possible to determine whether or not the intention was to glaze only part of the bottom, but this does not affect the overall beauty of this room (see photos.) the vase is in excellent original condition for a piece of this age. A beautiful, timeless piece of history, for any collector of art nouveau ceramics.
