Elegant small sculptural ceramic bowl by Roger Capron (1922-2006), made in Vallauris. This piece features a free and organic shape, with soft and asymmetrical curves, characteristic of the creativity of Vallauris ceramists in the 1950s. Its matte white glaze is enhanced by an abstract decoration painted freehand, combining broad cobalt blue strokes with fine black lines. This graphic interplay adds movement and lightness to the composition while highlighting the curves of the piece. Roger Capron (1922-2006) is one of the prominent figures in the revival of 20th-century French ceramics. A graduate of the École des Arts Appliqués in Paris, he settled in Vallauris in 1946 and founded the Callis workshop with Robert Picault, soon joined by Jean Derval. His work is distinguished by a great freedom of creation, combining sculptural forms, graphic decorations, and research on glazes. He gained international recognition and significantly contributed to the prominence of Vallauris ceramics. A lovely collectible piece, both decorative and representative of the modernist aesthetic of the mid-20th century. Dimensions: Length: 12.7 cm. Width: 11 cm. Height: 9.7 cm.
