Exceptional monochrome service, deep red/bordeaux, from the early production of Robert Picault in Vallauris around 1955. His pieces are generally sold individually in the shop adjoining the workshop, making it rare to find such a complete service. Offered as a wedding gift after a love at first sight during a holiday on the Côte d'Azur in the early 50s, this service has remained relatively complete. Few pieces are missing, overall condition is very good, and it is much rarer than the coloured pieces produced later. I am offering for sale this lot of 86 pieces, which have withstood the test of time, composed as follows: 12 dinner plates. 12 soup plates. 15 dessert plates. 13 coffee cups for 11 saucers. 1 milk jug with handle and spout. 11 mazagrans. 12 earthenware bowls. 1 oblong serving platter (flat). 1 oblong serving platter (deep). 1 large saucepan with handle. 1 soup tureen with lid. 1 jug with handle. 1 large salad bowl. 1 rectangular gratin dish. 1 sauceboat with handles and lid. 1 simple sauceboat. 1 mustard pot with lid and its olive wood spoon (chips on the re-glued lid). 1 conical salt shaker with its olive wood spoon. This service has been used and washed in the dishwasher, so the markings made post-firing are sometimes faded, while others remain; some pieces signed under the glaze are perfectly legible and characteristic of the artist. All pieces are dishwasher and oven safe. As the set is fragile, I prefer collection in-store but can consider a suitable packaging and shipping system for worldwide delivery. Further information available upon request. I remain available for any additional information or photos.
