Louis XV style worker, wood and curly veneer, early 20th century

Louis XV style worker. In veneer wood with diamond curling on the lower shelf, the front and the lid. Presence of a drawer on the front and a thick, beveled mirror on its contour under the top cover which contains a space with five compartments, brass hinges and bronze drawer catch. The key is missing. It is in a fair state of conerevation for a piece of furniture of this age, classic traces of use. Dimensions: long 56 cm, width 41 cm, height 75 cm for the record: this small piece of furniture, very fashionable in the 19th century, uses the colors that were the signature of jean-françois oeben, cabinetmaker to the king in 1754. It is under napoleon iii, the renewed interest in these aesthetics of the old regime gained momentum thanks to empress eugénie, who had a sentimental cult for queen marie-antoinette. She brought the louis XVI style up to date by inventing her own style in the middle of the 19th century: the louis xvi-empress style.
